Describe briefly the functions of the human ovary and human oviduct?

It produces eggs olova by meiosis and secretes female *** hormones oestrogen and progesterone. The ovaries provides the necessary environment for each ovum to develop and ripen before shedding them into oviduct. One ovum is released during 1 menstrual cycle.Oestrogen control the development of the secondary ***ual characters at puberty and causes the lining of uterus to thicken before ovulation. Progesterone stimulates the wall of the uterus so that it is thickened and congested ready for the implantation of a fertilized ovum and also stimulates the uterus and mammary glands during pregnancy .

Ovum released from the ovary is received by the oviduct when it is drawn into it by the ciliated funnel. Fertilization takes place there. Fertilized ovum moves into the uterus fro implantation through the uterus.

I.   Dissolved food substances and oxygen to diffuses from the maternal into foetal blood

II.   Metabolic waste materials diffuse from the foetal blood into maternal blood.

III.   Antibodies diffuse from the mother blood to the foetal blood protecting the embryo against diseases

IV.   It produces several hormones to maintain the female reproduction tract suitable for pregnancy
