What are the advantages and possible disadvantages of fruit dispersal to a plant species?

Some seeds like that of tridax have developed parachute mechanism for dispersal by wind. The seeds have lufts of hair arising from their coats. This increases the surface area and so the resistant of the air to their movement becomes very great. Hence they sink to the ground very slowly. In addition they are very small and light and can be far away by only a slight breeze.

Avoid overcrowding would lead to competition for light air water mineral salts and space. The dispersal enhances the survival of the species provide a mean for colonizing new areas.

Waste process because a great number of seeds may be dropped on sterile or unsuitable ground or may be carried out to the sea.

Dispersal is dependent on an external agent i.e. wind
