A plastic pipe is cut into three pieces in the ratio 5:2:1
The length of the longest piece is 125cm.
find:
(a) the lenth in CM , of the shortest piece,
(b) the total length, metres, of the pipe.

(a) ratio of shortest to longest side = 1:5,
shortest piece = 1/5*125=25 cm

(b) total =5+2+1=8
ratio of total to shortest = 8:1
Total length=8/1*25=200 cm= 200/100 m = 2 m
